Are you struggling to reclaim tax on Dental Nursing CPD?

With the treasury not willing to relax their rules on CPD for dental nurses it’s worth getting creative to ensure you get some tax relief for this relevant training.

Dentistry UK have highlighted that many Dental Nurses find themselves unable to claim tax releifon their CPD – http://www.dentistry.co.uk/news/tax-breaks-dental-nurses-cpd

We’d like to highlight that all is not lost!…

If the practice doesn’t pay for the nursing CPD and is unwilling to do so then rather than paying for this training out of taxed income its worth considering a ‘salary sacrifice’ arrangement to achieve tax relief in the nurse’s personal income tax. An added benefit of this being that the practice as employer saves on Employers NIC on the amount sacrificed – then everyone wins (except HMRC!) You must ensure that the national minimum wage rules are not broken by reducing salary but at the average UK benchmark salary levels for Dental Nurses this should not be an issue.

We’d be delighted to offer your practice free support to implement this structure to achieve a positive outcome and bypass the Treasury restrictions.
